It’s called “My Story Maker” and I liked it because it’s very very customizable, meaning you can choose characters, actions, elements, and while you are creating the story the little characters can move and do the things you want them to do ^^. Another thing that I liked about it is that the story writes itself while you play with the thousands possibilities you have when creating your story! So I believe this would be very useful for students who are just at the very early stages of  their reading-writing process. Imagine how amazing! You can invent a story and then the teacher can read it to all your classmates! Sounds fun.

The good thing is that it can also be used with older kids, students who already write. Why? Because this website allows you two possibilities: to just play with the characters and have the story be written by itself, or play with the characters  and write it.

Just for yuo to see how much fun your students will get, here I give you an example of this website. I chose two characters and I also chose the action “fight”. The action starts immediately! ^^

I also chose the background, that cloud (oops) and you can go on and on…

Problem?

The only problem is that when you finish the story, the characters won’t move as in the flash writing process. So if you don’t prepare your students for that result, they might feel a little dissapointed. :s

The site is called “Leading to Reading.” It presents lots of flash animated stories, activities, games, songs, doodles and more. The website is organized into three main categories: babies and toddlers, preschoolers and grown-ups.

I was just browsing the stories that this site has and I got hooked up with a story called “A Snowy Day”. The story presents the feelings and adventures of a young boy playing in the snow. The sound effects are amazing, the music makes you feel as if you could be in the little boy’s feet, and the illustrations are very simple and beautiful. You can find this cute story in the “Preschoolers” section of the site I mentioned above.

For some strange reason, kids find it more insteresting to read from the screen of a computer than to read it from the actual book.
